APPENDIX 1

DOWLEY HOUSEHOLDS IN IRELAND

AS PER 1901 and 1911 CENSUS

Where possible the same families are kept together starting with 1901 and followed by 1911. The house numbers given in each census for the same family are not always the same. This could arise from the building of extra houses in the same area, the order in which the enumerator logged the houses or the moving of the family to a different house. There are also serious discrepancies between ages given in the different years of the census for what is obviously the same family. Perhaps they were not sure of the ages or overstated the age for pension purposes. I have also attempted to keep related families together in different lines although this may be incorrect as I do not have the full relationship between families.
